Local visual wrtist Maria Echevarría will be leading each session, guiding you through a variety of exciting techniques designed to deepen your understanding of art and help you grow as a creator. Whether you're a seasoned artist or just starting out, these classes are meant to be fun, inspiring, and full of exploration.

ABOUT THE TECHNIQUES
Acrylic on Canvas: Painting organic abstract shapes
Students will begin with drawing exercises to strengthen the mind-hand connection, explore basic composition principles, and then create a unique acrylic on canvas piece, applying what they've learned.
Collage + Mixed Media on Paper/ Canvas
Students will cut out images from magazines and brochures to form a composition on paper, which will then be enhanced with acrylic paint, oil pastels, and colored paper cutouts.
Watercolor Painting
Students will learn the basics of watercolor painting through a series of simple exercises, completing 3-4 by the end of class, along with an A4-sized watercolor painting.
Drawing 101 - Pencils, Markers & Ink on Paper
Students will learn drawing basics, including warm-up exercises to strengthen the hand-mind connection and promote relaxation using pencils, markers, and ink. They’ll practice drawing from observation with geometric shapes and finish with a stream-of-consciousness exercise using scribbles and organic shapes.
Oil Pastels on Paper
Students will learn basic color theory techniques, choose a color scheme, and apply it to a landscape drawing—either pre-sketched or of their own creation—using oil pastels on paper.
Tile Painting - Individual Pieces or Panel
Students will explore examples of ceramic tile painting and learn how to apply ceramic glazes. They will glaze 6-8 painted 11 cm x 11 cm ceramic tiles during class and receive their finished, fired pieces the following week.
ABOUT MARIA
María Echevarría a.k.a “Misterio” is a Los Cabos based artist who explores various mediums including illustration, ceramics and mural painting. Baja California Sur has been her home and inspiration for over a decade. With bold figures and striking colorful contrasts, she looks to create universes where fantasy and idiosyncrasy come together to capture that which can’t be put into words. Recurring characters, story telling and hidden details characterize her colorful and clever compositions.
